Sources close to the club have revealed to us that from next season the playing of u201CBubblesu201D will be sponsored by Nestle-Rowntree as part of a national promotion for Aero. A new recording of the traditional song is to be made which will include suitably amended lyrics. These will refer to u201CAero bubbles in the airu201D, "Rowntrees' everywhere" and the final line will refer to u201CAero from Nes-tl-eu201D.
The club spokesman, who did not wish to be identified, told us:
"Jeremy Nicholas will have a standard pre-match announcement along the lines of u201CCue Bubbles, sponsored by Nestleu2019s Aero u2013 itu2019s bubbleiciousu201D and weu2019ll be putting free lyric sheets on every seat so supporters can get used to the new words.
"Weu2019ll also be giving away free chocolate bars - though we might wait until the weather cools down a bit after the start of the season to do that!
"This will be a first for us but talks are also advanced with another major name who will pay to have their advertising jingle played each time we score u2013 the more goals we get the more we get paid!"
Though the spokesman would not give any further details we have heard from other sources that the goal sponsors may be connected to the information technology industry with the u201CIntel Insideu201D tune being strongly linked.
