Hi Snorky

Damn we can't get rid of you!

The forum had to be changed due to heavy traffic these days since 500 of our fans had been arrested in Zurich without beeing accused. We're quite upset, actually.

On sunday we had a match against GC Zurich (biggest rival), so there was a extra-train to zurich full with FCB-Fans. Train was stopped at the station and all off them 427 were arrested for hours!
They haven't been accused for something special, they were just there wearing redblue stuff!

Its a bloody banana republic story! Unbelivable!!!

The police decided to arrest all the fans who took the extra train to zurich (about 600). Just "to avoid troubles". There were many kids and parents among the crowd who had to stay at the police stadion till 11pm and longer. No phone call, no toilet.

On the other hand we'd been attacked by hools after the game and no zurich police around. The police later told the press that everything was quite due to their work.

That really sucked, believe me.

Well u r a clever one, aren't u?!! ;)

Things r going a bit tits up in ould Switzerland, fucken fashist Zurich Police more or less turned a train station into a prison: all supporters going to an away game to Zurich were force to take a special train, just to b arrested in Zurich for really flimsy reasons an hour later (they made 427 arrests, among which quite a few minors....).

Would like 2 give u some more details but no time rite now, bloody work's calling.

Unlucky first half against Villa thogh, u should of gone up at lest 3 0 by halftime!

I do hope justice is done for those fans. But I fear if Switzerland is anything like England - it will be brushed under the carpet and forgotten about.

Angelo is right - the police can and do get away with anything they want.

I wish everyone good luck, but having had similar experiences in England many years ago in my younger days I fear it will be a fruitless exercise.

Even day many fans are treated like hooligans because they support a certain team. Take the England national team, yes there are hooligans that follow England but the majority of fans are law abiding yet get treated as hooligans.

Liverpool had this reputation after Heysel and even Hillsborough, but those of you who spent time in Liverpool and met Liverpool fans in Basel know different.

FC Basel slam Zurich police over mass arrests

By Mark Ledsom

BERN, Switzerland, Dec 6 (Reuters) - Swiss club FC Basel have made a complaint against Zurich police after the weekend arrest of more than 400 fans.

Officers made the arrests on Sunday, shortly before Basel's 3-2 win at Grasshoppers Zurich.

In a statement on Monday Basel described the police action as "indiscriminate", claiming that many of those arrested were children, minors and parents.

The club said several fans had been handcuffed and detained until past midnight without being allowed to contact anybody.

Most of them, the club added, had been arrested simply because they were travelling on a train specially designated for football fans.

The police denied the accusations, with spokeswoman Susann Birrer telling Reuters on Monday that the officers had acted "properly and in accordance with the duty to keep public order".

"The police actions also helped prevent any further trouble or damage to property," Birrer added. "We have not yet received any formal complaint from Basel but if we did, we would of course look into their concerns."

The police confirmed that they had made 427 arrests, releasing all but one by the early hours of Monday morning.

Three people have been charged with violent behaviour and the obstruction of police officers, with further charges of endangering public safety due to be brought against the majority of the remaining fans.

The Swiss football league has been trying to fight a recent spate of hooliganism among soccer supporters and recently decided to make clubs responsible for the behaviour of their fans at away matches.

Clubs will face fines, have points deducted or be forced to play matches behind closed doors if their fans behave violently.

The league has also pledged to tighten match security under the new regulations, which are due to come into effect after this season's winter break.

The difference may be: Also children (age 14) have been arrested and set free at 2 a.m. 100 km away from Basel without any possibility to reach home (except phoning parents and friends).
Special train was the official train with a lot of really harmless fans.

Police action caused a big echo in press: Main theme in local newspaper, reports in every big swiss newspaper, reports in local and national television.

Snorky,

This was an orchestrated operation to victimise Basel fans. An official special train full of fans is intercepted and met by hundreds of helmeted police in riot gear, armed with tear gas and rubber bullet guns. Everybody -- mothers, fathers, kids -- is stopped from leaving the platform to have their identity checked (as they say), barriers are well in place. It's becoming clear and is openly admitted by some officers that everybody will miss the game. People begin to get irritated, maybe panic, try to argue with their anonymous opposites, some try to break free. Next a shower of tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd, at close range -- at least one 14-year-old hit in the face. Then 427 (some of them kids) handcuffed, numbered on their forearms (get the association), herded into police vans and driven to the station. There left standing for hours, still handcuffed, and put into cells. Held for up to twelve hours before being released without charges worth the paper they're written on. And then, on TV, these smirking, lying Zurich [modedit], telling the nation what a success the operation was -- how everybody could peacefully follow the game. No mention that after the game the Zurich hools attacked the Basel fans who had made it to the ground.

Hi Snorky

We alle are shocked, horrified and full of hate.

Do us a favour, please. Paste some of the informations, especially the one of "medix" into the LFC messageboard. Football fans all over Europe shall take notice what Nazi methods our boys, women and children were confronted with in Gnome city.

Thank you in advance!

You'll never walk alone!
