BUCHAREST, April 14 (Reuters) - A Romanian referee has been downgraded after making mistakes in a domestic Cup match, the country's Central Referees' Commission (CCA) said on Thursday.
Dinamo Bucharest beat National Bucharest 4-0 on Wednesday in the second leg of a Cup semi-final to advance 5-2 on aggregate, but National players and officials were furious about the decisions of referee Ionica Serea to award two Dinamo penalties and a goal.
"Referee Ionica Serea made huge errors during the match so the CCA has downgraded him to the third division for an undetermined time," CCA head Ion Craciunescu told Reuters.
The CCA has also asked UEFA to ban Serea from officiating internationals and FIFA to exclude him from its panel of referees.
