PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic has been sacked from the French ligue 1 club following a disappointing 0-2 loss to Lens last weekend. The Bosnian received critics from players of the club about his way of managing.
"The Paris St Germain board on Tuesday put an end to their collaboration with manager Vahid Halilhodzic," the club said in a statement posted on their official website.
Club president Francis Graille, very close to the Bosnian-born coach, will announce the name of his replacement at a media conference on Wednesday.
"It's not an easy decision but you have to make such choices when you're in charge," Graille told Reuters.
The names of former PSG players Laurent Fournier, who currently trains the reserve team, Alain Roche and Antoine Kombouare have been cited to take over from Halilhodzic.
The PSG board met on Tuesday evening to discuss the situation after a 2-0 defeat at home to RC Lens on Sunday.
A sports director may also be appointed and could be former Brazilian playmaker Rai, another great name from the club's past.
After winning the French Cup and qualifying for the Champions League last season, PSG failed to deliver and are currently a disappointing 12th in the Ligue 1 standings.
