Kairat take Astana's place

Kazakhstan's representatives for next season's European competitions have been decided while the 2006 season continues to produce suprises.

Astana withdraw
Defending champions FK Aktobe are bound for the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, but Kazakhstan Cup holders FC Astana have been forced to withdraw from the UEFA Cup, after failing UEFA's licensing criteria because of outstanding transfer debts.

Kairat step in
"We just couldn't do it in time," said Astana president Erlan Adambekov. "Now the financial situation is fine, but it is too late." FC Kairat Almaty, last season's third-placed side, will take Astana's place in the first qualifying round alongside 2005 league runners-up FC Tobol Kostanay.

Tobol top
Tobol are currently the top side in the Kazakhstan Superleague but they are level on points with Astana. Tobol secured an impressive 3-0 win against Kairat in one of the big fixtures in May, but Astana matched their endeavour with a 1-0 win against reigning champions Aktobe.

Energetik victories
One of the biggest surprise in recent weeks was FC Energetik Pavlodar's first league win of the season - a 1-0 derby victory against FC Irtysh on 30 April. However, better was to come for the top-flight debutants as they knocked Kairat out of the second round of the Kazakhstan Cup on 10 May.

Cup derby
With the two teams drawing 3-3 after extra time, Energetik won 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out to set up a two-legged quarter-final rematch with Irtysh. The other last-eight ties see FC Okzhetpes Kokshetau play Astana and Tobol play FC Alma-Ata while Aktobe take on FC Shakhtyor Karagandy.

Futsal finished
Meanwhile, while the football season continues, the Futsal season ended on 17 May, with Kairat claiming the national title for the third successive season. They will now enter the UEFA Futsal Cup, where they reached the semi-finals this year, losing out to MFK Dinamo Moskva.

Visum

Allgemein erforderlich, ausgenommen sind Staatsangehörige folgender Länder:
(a) EU-Länder: Slowenien (Rückreiseticket erforderlich) ([2] Ausnahmen: Visumpflicht besteht für Staatsangehörige aller hier nicht aufgezählten EU-Länder).
(b) Übrige Länder (für einen Aufenthalt von bis zu 90 Tagen): GUS (Ausnahme: Visumpflicht besteht für Staatsbürgern von Turkmenistan) und Mongolei;
(c) Übrige Länder (für einen Aufenthalt von bis zu 30 Tagen): Türkei;
(d) Übrige Länder: Bosnien-Herzegowina, Kroatien, Mazedonien (Ehem. Jug. Rep.) und Serbien & Montenegro.

Visum bei der Einreise
Es besteht die Möglichkeit, ein 1 Monat gültiges Visum bei der Ankunft am Flughafen zu erhalten, wenn die erforderliche Einladung ausgestellt wurde: Auf der vom kasachischen Außenministerium bestätigten Einladung muss vermerkt sein, dass das Visum am Flughafen beantragt wird. Es kann jedoch zu Reiseverzögerungen kommen.
