That's okay. I thought it will be much more. In Dortmund he got about £15,000 - £17,500 per week... So he will get much money for sitting on the bench, or how will be his chances to play in Liverpool?

At right-back we have Finnan who probably has one year left, Arbeloa who I rate and can play any position in defence and that is it. So I think he will get quite a few games.

hi snorky, nice to read from you.
first of all i'm proud that a guy from our region and our young talents has joined one of the biggest clubs in the world. it will be hard work for him to make it in the starting 11. i think you will either love or hate him. he's not the kind of guy who leaves you cold.
ps: i loved him

Welcome back, Snorky! It's been a while
My opinion on Philipp as above written by someone else: Better attacking than defending!
Good luck anyway!

It has been a while, but it's nice to see the same names knocking around.
And I've still got the magic cap, although it has not been worn for a while.

Nice to hear from you Snorky!
I always liked the Degen twins, even they were/are not that popular here in Basel. They both have a great endurance, they're fast and have a excellent technique.
Unfortunately they often play a bit too complicated. The most negative thing on their behaviour: They can't be annoyed and run back at the same time, after loosing the ball!
Anyway, Philipp will be fully motivated to play for Liverpool and I think the Premier League could fit to his way of playing. Imagine: He was growing up in a village with around 300 inhabitants called Lampenberg (Lamp-Mountain

) and now he has the chance to play at Anfield!
I hope you will let us know from time to time how he is doing over there!

I liked him very much, while he was playing in Basel. His career in Dortmund was not as good as I expected it to be, so it showed that in a big team (Liverpool is a real big
team) he may have some problems because he often was/is to egoistic and doesn't pass the ball. He's an offensive player and always good for an assist, but as a defensor I don't think that you and most scouse will love him. He's not the type of fighter you appreciate like Gerrard or Carragher.
I hope for you and specially for him that he can help Anfield Road to finally become the stadium of the english champion (well, in fact it is already

).
PS. Nice to read you!

Welcome home snorky!
A son of my favourite Team transferd to «my» other Team. Cool.
One for you - one for us. FCB and LFC > Twin-Teams ;-).
All the best for Pool and Degen! See you at Anfield Road!

Hey, good to see you back, Snorky! (It sure took long enough.)
As pretty much everything has been said about Degen, I believe I don't need to go into any further details. Just this: With all the bad that comes along with him, I still liked the player very much while he was playing for us in Basle. (But then again, that's speaking for people who like real football, not the defensive and half-hearted football that we've been seeing for a while down here.)
Make sure you give us updates once in a while. It would be appreciated.

Rafa said: "When you find a player like him who costs no money it means you can use money for improving other parts of the squad."
Spot on. It is a risky experiment for Liverpool with respect to the defensive reliability but I don't think it is a costly one. Give it a try... maybe he surprises everybody.

Yo snorky, how are you doing? Why on earth didn't you guys avoid this nasty cl final? I don't even know which of the two is more disgusting...
Degen is a decent player, has some good offensive skills but defensively he's often swamped. I think going to Anfield might be above his weight class, it's not like he was outstanding at Dortmund. You never know but I really wouldn't expect much more thanbeing a decent backup from him, he won't be the messiah who brings the premiership back to Anfield...

I absolutely agree on what you said in the last paragraph, however I have to say, the part where you say "which of the two is more disgusting", i have an answer for you ; Chelsea. United are a bunch of legends, chelsea a bunch of wankers

at least you can be sure of one thing: blackburn paid about 300'000£ to get former basel defender bruno berner, so degen is not the worst basel-premierleague-transfer in history

If you watch any of Switzerland's games at Euro next month (you won't be wasting any time watching England

) there is a good chance you will see Degen play, if he recovers from his current injury quickly enough. He was a starter for the Swiss team leading up to the WC in Germany and player quite well there imho. What's more, he doesn't really have much competition in that slot since Lichtsteiner started playing in right midfield this past season, and Behrami (who I have heard rumours about joining Liverpool or another PL team as well) isn't really a defender.
