I was only joking about Gilzeans,as you well know.But for information ,the pub next door to Gilzeans was or possibly still is a gay bar.Nothing wrong with that or gays,I work with a few ,both men and women so you get used to them.

It should be a little bit of irony. And it means that you don't seem to like gay people if you're suggesting to go to the Gilzeans and ask for directions to a gay bar

please take note that the police will not be allowing people to drink in the streets on the way to the ground so if you have any cans either drink them before leaving the pubs area or stash them away till after the game.
Police will be videoing both sets of fans in the pubs and around town and anyone arrested for football/drink related problems will be in court and will also get a worldwide football banning order.Thats why we dont have so many active hoolies at boro at the moment.Over 200 banned after Ostrava away last year.

ist england (also lotterie). hatten wir in birmingham und newcastle keine chance, so gingen in liverpool und manchester die fahnen durch. wir nehmen auch mit, aber achte doch ein bisschen darauf, dass es nicht gleich riesendinger sind! (sollte 1.5 sicher nicht übersteigen)

to hang them is one point, but is it allowed to bring flags with sticks? in liverpool wasn't any permission, also in manchester. but otherwise there were no chance for flags with sticks in birmingham and newcastle.

Mendi Out For The Season

BORO have tonight been hit with the news that Gaizka Mendieta has been ruled out for the season.

The Spain international broke a metatarsal in his foot in training this afternoon.

Mendieta, 32 last Monday, will need to undergo an operation and will not play again this campaign.

The news follows hot on the heels of the horrific facial injury suffered by Emanuel Pogatetz in Basel last Thursday. The Austria international is to undergo surgery this week after badly breaking his nose and a maxilla - a bone to the side of the cheek.

He too will be out for the remainder of this season.

Broken metatarsals are becoming more commonplace in football, the two most high-profile cases being David Beckham and Michael Owen with the latter missing this Sunday's derby at the Riverside with the injury which is threatening his World Cup place in the summer.

MORALGETANKT. Der «Daily Telegraph» ging gestern hart ins Gericht mit Manchester City. «Ausgespielt von Middlesbrough», schrieb das Blatt zur 0:1-Niederlage der City gegen den Uefa-Cup-Gegner des FC Basel. Das Resultat täuscht nämlich. Ohne mehrere Paraden der Nummer zwei im England-Tor, David James, in der zweiten Halbzeit hätte Manchester City nämlich eine Kanterniederlage kassiert. «Boro» gab sich damit vor dem Viertelfinal-Rückspiel gegen die Basler selber moralischen Auftrieb, und Manager Steve McClaren war sogar mit einem Blick in die Zukunft hocherfreut.

«Das war die jüngste Mannschaft, die wir je auf dem Feld hatten, mit insgesamt sieben Spielern, die aus unserer eigenen Jugendakademie stammen. Was man heute sah, war die Zukunft für den Club», sagte der Middlesbrough-Manager strahlend. In der Tat hatte «Boro» im Vergleich zum Spiel im St.-Jakob-Park letzten Donnerstag umgestellt. Respekt, sicher lange gesucht, bis du ein bild mit EINER Fahne gefunden hast. Glauben bringt denen die sie mit schleppen nichts. Diese Bilder beweisen für mich eher das Gegenteil.
Es sieht so aus, als hätte man einfach einem einzelnen kleinen Jungen seine Fahne nicht wegnehmen wollen.

Ich habe garnicht gesucht, sondern in unserem Forum gefragt. Ich glaub auch nicht, daß da Kinder dabeiwaren. Es wird schon so sein, daß größere Fahnen mit Stöcken nicht erlaubt sind aber so ungefähr die Größe wie auf dem Bild zu sehen ist schon in Ordnung geht.
Zur Not einfach Stock wegwerfen, Fahne umbinden und weiter gehts!

Cattermole worry for Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough midfielder Lee Cattermole is a doubt for Thursday's UEFA Cup quarter-final, second leg clash against Basle.

The 18-year-old has aggravated an ankle injury and could join Emanuel Pogatetz (facial fractures) and Gaizka Mendieta (fractured metatarsal) on the sidelines after the pair were ruled out for the rest of the season.

Skipper Gareth Southgate is back in training after missing the last two games with back and ankle problems, while Franck Queudrue (dead leg) and Mark Schwarzer (swollen glands) could also return.

hoho! plenty of food! what does plenty mean? fish n chips and ugly pie?

food in the ground is based on mcdonalds,burgers,chips etc.With Balti pies in some parts of the ground.Dont know about away end.

Dont knock our fish and chips,if you get them from a good shop then its a good meal.Some parts of the country dont know how to cook it properly.

Beer in town is mostly ,Tetley,John Smiths,Carling or Carlsberg.
Some good strong real ales in a couple of pubs and of course there is Guinness .
